Rather Thirty and Free
Would we truly be happy if we were to live like our ancestors? Like the apes, chimpanzees, monkeys, or the kangaroos, deer, bears, and fish. Wild and free, no rules but those which are permitted by existence. True freedom. True experience. True love, togetherness with our families, living as animals and as life has always been. We would be more free, and in a sense happier, I would think. Though life would be tough, and quite short, maybe a bit more chaotic—surely a lot more chaotic. Safety would constantly have to be sought and fought for. Exactly why we developed into ourselves, right: to ensure safety as an ease, to ensure survival as an ease. Life would be much more chaotic, but it would be much more free, and perhaps more beautiful.
As it is now, we are suffocated. Following so many paths laid for us, and all for what? To ensure the built society runs as it is meant to. So everything moves so complicatedly and smoothly as it is meant to. Life is far more simple than we make it. We kill our individuality and soul so that we can have this society that we live in. But how much do we benefit from such a life? Is it the few? Or do we all? I tend to lean toward believing only a few. Though we all now live longer, surely we do, right? But what does that matter when it is a miserable experience? Why live till ninety, when it’s all for naught? Rather thirty and free.
We are all dead. Most don’t even know it. Their bubbles continue to grow, not yet popped, and may never be popped. So what care do they have; why should they even care? According to them it’s all working fine and there is no issue. Maybe it’s simply because they have yet to see it, maybe it has not yet arrived at their front door. And so it matters not.
We are a sick society: a sickness produced as a result of who we needed to be to conquer this planet. Leading a few to be free, while the rest of us scramble about. We are just cogs, we are just little folks, being squeezed more and more, till we pop. Pop, pop, pop. Is this even sustainable?
